Situation in Belarus: Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to address plenary

At 12.00, Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will speak to MEPs in the EP hemicycle in Strasbourg. She is expected to address the on-going crisis on the EU-Belarus borders, the latest EU sanctions on Lukashenka’s regime and the situation inside Belarus.

Outcome of the COP26 in Glasgow

In a debate at 9.00, MEPs will discuss with Commission Vice-President Timmermans and the Slovenian Presidency the Glasgow Climate Pact adopted at the 2021 UN Climate Conference on 13 November.

Rule of law and fundamental rights in Slovenia

Starting from around 17.00, plenary will debate the situation of media freedom and democracy in Slovenia, as well as the country’s delay in proposing their candidates for delegated prosecutors to the EU Prosecutor’s Office, in a debate with Commissioner Reynders and Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Anže Logar.

In brief:

State of the Energy Union. MEPs will hold an exchange of view with Commissioner Simson on progress towards providing households and businesses with secure, sustainable, competitive and affordable energy, amid discussions across the EU about mitigating the impact of increasing energy prices.

How to Vaccinate the World. The EU's role in combatting the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring access to safe vaccines across the world will be the focus of a plenary debate with Commissioner Kyriakides and the Slovenian Presidency, at 15.00.

Votes

A remote voting session will be held from 12.30 to 13.45, with results announced at 16.30.

MEPs will cast their final vote on:

• the 2022 EU budget;
• an EU strategy for critical raw materials, and
• a pharmaceutical strategy for Europe.

They will also vote on amendments to reports on:

• legal migration;
• introducing a European Social Security Pass, and
• EU aid for dismissed workers of the metal sector in Spain.
