EP President to announce the Sakharov laureate for 2020
Parliament’s Conference of Presidents (EP President Sassoli and political group chairs) will decide on the winner of the 2020 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought on Thursday.
The laureate(s) will be announced by Parliament President David Sassoli in the hemicycle on Thursday, at noon.
The finalists this year are:
- The democratic opposition in Belarus, represented by the Coordination Council, an initiative of brave women and political and civil society figures;
- Guapinol activists and Berta Cáceres in Honduras;
- Mgr Najeeb Michaeel, Archbishop of Mosul, Iraq.
