MEPs to debate new EU industrial strategy

On Tuesday, Parliament will comment on the Commission’s new plans, aiming to boost economic recovery by strengthening Europe’s industrial base.

On 5 May, the Commission updated its EU Industrial Strategy to take full account of the new circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 crisis and help drive the transformation to a more sustainable, digital, resilient and globally competitive economy.

Parliament requested a revision in a November 2020 report, which highlighted the need to help businesses cope with the crisis caused by the pandemic and face the digital and environmental “twin transitions”.
