Parliament set to approve €18 billion Ukraine loan for 2023
MEPs will discuss and vote on help for the country’s short-term funding needs during Russia’s war against the country.
According to the Commission’s proposal, which asks MEPs to fast-track approval under the EP’s accelerated “urgent procedure”, the €18 billion will cover part of an estimated €4 billion monthly funding need in Ukraine to cover essential public services, macroeconomic stability and the restoration of critical infrastructure destroyed by Russia.
If MEPs agree to the use of the urgent procedure on Tuesday, they will vote on the proposal itself on Thursday, following a debate with the Commission and the Council on Wednesday.
Vote on urgency: Tuesday 22 November
Debate: Wednesday 23 November
Vote: Thursday 24 November 2022
Procedure: ordinary legislative procedure, in urgent procedure
