MEPs reached an agreement with EU governments in talks on the Emissions Trading System (ETS) and the Social Climate Fund, over the weekend in Brussels.

On Monday 19 December at 10.30 CET, an online press conference is scheduled with Peter Liese (EPP, DE), Parliament’s ETS rapporteur, Pascal Canfin (Renew, FR), Chair of the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee and Dragoș Pîslaru (Renew, RO), Chair of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs.

The press conference can be followed live via webstreaming and Ebs.

Interpretation of the press conference will be available in English, French and German.

Background

The ETS is part of the “Fit for 55 in 2030 package", which is the EU’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels in line with the European Climate Law. MEPs have already negotiated agreements with EU governments on CBAM, CO2 cars, LULUCF, Effort Sharing and ETS aviation.
