COVID-19: MEPs are set to urge the EU to help close the digital gap in education

MEPs are expected to call on the Commission to urgently propose measures to ensure that every pupil in the EU has access to education in case of future lock-downs.

On Monday, MEPs will hold a debate and vote Wednesday on a resolution highlighting that up to 32% of pupils did not have access to education during the COVID-19 lockdown in some EU countries, due to a lack of digital infrastructure or equipment. During the debate, MEPs might evaluate the Commission’s latest “education package” proposals.

They therefore intend to call for an urgent plan to remedy the severe inequalities in access to education that were exacerbated by the pandemic.

Procedure: Question for oral answer, resolution
