EP’s co-rapporteurs Daniel Buda (EPP, RO) and Isabel Carvalhais (S&D, PT) will brief journalists on the main recommendations to ensure animal welfare during transport on Friday at 10 am.

Back in June 2020, the European Parliament set up the Committee of Inquiry on the Protection of Animals during Transport (ANIT) to investigate alleged violations in the application of European Union law on the protection of animals during transport and related operations within and outside the EU.

After 18 months of investigation, EP’s committee of inquiry is to conclude its work and vote on draft report and recommendations on Thursday. 1233 amendments have been tabled and 98 compromises have been reached on these documents.

The lead MEPs steering the file through Parliament, Daniel Buda (EPP, RO) and Isabel Carvalhais (S&D, PT), will share with media main takeaways from the vote and inform about key recommendations how to ensure that animal welfare during transport is respected.
