More powers and coordination for a better EU response to health threats

MEPs will discuss extending the powers of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, to ensure it is ready to deal with possible future health crises, as well as the new measures to allow the EU and member states to improve prevention, preparedness and response planning in case of serious cross-border health threats. The two draft laws, already agreed with the Council, will be put to the vote tomorrow.

Additional help to deal with the consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine

Plenary will assess a proposal to simplify the rules on the use of EU regional funds to address the consequences of the Russian war against Ukraine, providing regions and member states with additional pre-financing worth €3.5 billion in 2022 and 2023. The vote will take place tomorrow.

Developing sustainable EU aquaculture. MEPs will look into the potential of EU aquaculture to provide sustainable and quality food with a reduced environmental footprint to consumers. Plenary will vote on a draft resolution tomorrow.

Freezing EU funds to Hungary: MEPs to quiz Commissioner Hahn

MEPs of the Budgetary Control and Budgets Committees will debate the recent Commission proposal to suspend EU payments to Hungary over rule of law concerns, unless the Government adopts measures to ensure the EU budget is protected.

More charging and alternative refuelling stations on EU roads

The Transport Committee will vote on draft legislation to spur the deployment of recharging and alternative refuelling stations for cars and trucks. Under the proposal, by 2026 there should be recharging stations every 60 km on main EU roads and, by 2028, hydrogen stations every 100 km. MEPs will also vote on sustainable maritime fuels rules that aim to cut ships’ emissions.
