MEPs discuss technical vulnerabilities related to spyware with experts

On Thursday, the Committee of Inquiry investigating Pegasus and other spyware will hear from experts on technical vulnerabilities that expose devices to spyware infections.

When: Thursday 24 November 2022, 9.00 - 12.00 CET

Where: European Parliament in Strasbourg, Louise Weiss building, room N1.3


To discuss zero-day vulnerabilities (vulnerabilities that have not yet been fixed, and can be used to breach the defences of smart devices), trade in them and their links to cyber-criminality, MEPs will host a debate with the following guest experts:

  • Thorsten Schröder, expert in information security and spyware, Chaos Computer Club
  • Dr. Max Smeets, Center for Security Studies, ETH Zurich
  • Ian Beer, white hat hacker, part of Google's Project Zero team
  • Dr. Mailyn Fidler, University of Nebraska
