The Committee for Economic and Monetary Affairs wants to see more women leading economic and financial institutions.
Irene Tinagli, Chair of the Committee, invited leading women from the European Parliament to share their experience via video messages.
The speakers featured in this video embody progress and change in EU politics as well as financial and economic governance. They all share the same view: there are still too few women in leading roles and we must do more to ensure gender equality. They share their commitment to progress on gender balance and having more women in leadership positions as well as making sure that the recovery funds will equally empower women who have been disproportionately hit by the coronavirus crisis.
Background
Following the success of the first edition, launched by the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee in October 2020, the European Parliament is holding a second European Gender Equality Week from 25 to 28 October. Several parliamentary committees and delegations organised sessions addressing gender equality issues in their policy areas.
