Personal information protection
General EU protection policy
The policy on "protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions" is based on Regulation EU 2018/1725 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2018. This general policy covers the European Union's family of institutional Web Sites, within the "eu.int" and "europa.eu" domains.
Although you can browse through most of these Web Sites without giving any information about yourself, in some cases, personal information is required in order to provide the e-services you request.
In this respect:
Visits and Seminars Unit (European Parliament, Rue Wiertz 60, 1047 Brussels, Belgium) being a data controller collects information during the registration process, including first and last name, country, region or state, Zip or post code, language, gender, birth date, main interest subjects and occupation.
This information is needed to organise the visit in an appropriate manner. Some information on participants may be collected from group organisers.
The personal details of group organisers will be retained for as long as details of the group are held.
Your registration information is used to operate the site, for user statistics, and to display appropriate individualized information. Visitors' feedback and statistics are collected on an anonymous basis.
New users will receive an EP welcome message explaining the features and facilities provided by the service. EP may also send periodic subscriber information to announce important service changes, new features, information updates, EP and EU news and information about other EU institutions.
If you unsubscribe from this service, your account will be disabled.
The European Parliament will not sell, lease or rent or otherwise transfer its member lists to any third parties outside the institution.
Control of your Personal Information
You may also stop the delivery of future information messages by e-mail from the European Parliament by following the specific instructions in each of the e-mail you are receiving. The instructions explain how to stop receiving such e-mails.
There are some EP services that send out periodic e-mails informing you of our services, publications, surveys, and news about the European parliament and the European Union. These mailings form part of a service package.
If you cancel your personal account with the Visits and Seminars Unit, you will not receive any further mailings.
You have a right to have recourse to the European Data Protection Supervisor.
Security of your Personal Information
Our Institution is committed to protecting the security of your personal information. We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
For example, we store the personal information you provide on computer systems with limited access, which are located in controlled facilities.
