Petition No 0239/2022 by Marisa Filipe (Portuguese) on the introduction of the Nansen passport for Ukrainian refugees in Europe

Status: Closed
The petitioner proposes the introduction of the Nansen passport by the European Union to accelerate the allocation of visas by each Member State to Ukrainian refugees. In order to mitigate the differences between national regulations and the concept of ‘safe countries of origin’, the petitioner considers that the introduction of the Nansen passport will provide a common migration and refugee policy and could serve as an EU-wide ID card which would guarantee equal treatment for all refugees in Europe. In the petitioner’s opinion, this passport could be the best response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and could grant refugees freedom of movement while reducing bureaucratic procedures in the Member States.
