The petitioner states that the EU should rethink the system created to give support to farmers. According to the petitioner, there is no reason to pay millions of euros in aid to large farmers who do well without it. He believes the focus should be on small farmers, who do not have the same conditions to make ends meet. He considers that the EU could have increased its production of meat and crops tremendously if the money was invested on those who really need support. He refers particularly to the situation in Sweden. He suggests setting a very high premium for the first 50 hectares used, and then a gradual reduction up to 250 hectares. The petitioner thinks that, in that way, the EU could create a system that provides balanced conditions for everyone. The big farmers would have production advantages in higher efficiency cultivated areas and the small farmers will receive more help also taking care of the environment.
