The petitioner considers that the original Beethoven version of the ‘Ode to Joy’ should be used by the European Union as an anthem, instead of the version arranged by Herbert von Karajan, considering inter alia the troubled past of H. von Karajan and the fact that H. von Karajan’s version is not in the public domain and is subject to copyright.
