A parlamenti kérdéseket az európai parlamenti képviselők intézik az Európai Unió más intézményeihez és szerveihez. E kérdések a többi uniós intézmény és szerv feletti parlamenti ellenőrzés közvetlen eszközei.
A parlamenti kérdéseknek három típusa van:

  • A szóbeli választ igénylő kérdéseket - amelyeket a parlamenti ülések során vitatnak meg, és amelyek szerepelnek a napirend „Viták” pontjában - a Parlament állásfoglalása követheti (142. cikk )
  • A kérdések órája során feltett kérdések a plenáris üléseken e célra fenntartott időkeretben tehetők fel (143. cikk )
  • Az írásbeli választ igénylő kérdések írásbeli válasz igényével (144. cikk )
