AFCO - Constitutional Affairs

The European Parliament Constitutional Affairs Committee (AFCO), in cooperation with the Legislative Dialogue Unit of the Directorate for Relations with national Parliaments, organised this ICM to exchange views with national Parliaments on the preparations to the European Elections in 2024.

This meeting took place on Wednesday, 26 April 2023 from 15.30 to 18.30 at the European Parliament in Brussels and remotely.

The main aim of this Inter-parliamentary Committee Meeting was to exchange views with national Parliaments on the ‘Conclusions of the Conference on the Future of Europe and the role of national Parliaments in the European Union’.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss the follow up and the implementation of the proposals of the Conference, including potential treaty changes.

The meeting was an exchange of views and reflection on the expectations of national Parliaments for the Conference of Europe (COFE).

The meeting was an exchange of views on reforming of the European electoral law and the European Parliament's right of inquiry.

An Interparliamentary Committee Meeting (ICM) on "State of the debate on the future of Europe" was held on Wednesday 10th October from 14h30 to18h30 in room JAN4Q1 as organised by the Constitutional Affairs Committe (AFCO).

AFCO Committee hold an ICM on 'The Future of Europe' on Wednesday 11 October 2016 - from 15h00 to 18h30. This was an opportunity to continue the discussions with national parliaments about the future institutional evolution of the Union with a particular focus on the European Parliament's proposals.

In order to discuss the future institutional evolution of the European Union, the AFCO Committee of the European Parliament organised an interparliamentary committee meeting with EU national Parliaments on 19 November 2015 in the premises of the European Parliament in Brussels.

The recent challenges like the economic crisis, the refugees, the terrorism, the withdrawal of the UK need to be addressed in order to be able to ensure peace, security and prosperity for EU citizens.

The AFCO Committee of the European Parliament organised an interparliamentary committee meeting on Tuesday 2 May 2017. The aim of this meeting was to discuss the key issue paper in view of the report on the Implementation of the Treaty provisions concerning national Parliaments.
