The European Parliament's Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI) organized on 25 April 2022 an Interparliamentary Committee Meeting (ICM) with National Parliaments on “The EU's Subsidiarity mechanism”.

This meeting wasd held remotely via a videoconference on Thursday, 21 April 2022 from 13.45 to 16:15 at the European Parliament in Brussels.

The aim of the meeting, organised by the EP's JURI committee was to discuss the role that digitization plays in the legislative process and how to ensure that new legislation is in line with modern requirements.

The Legal Affairs Committee (JURI) and Petition Committee (PETI) co-organised with the Legislative Dialogue Unit of the Directorate for National Parliaments an ICM on the Empowering Parliaments and enforcing citizen's rights in the implementation and application of Union law.

The workshop focused on basic ethical and policy questions raised by the development of robotics and AI, and what the legislator should do and at which level, with the European Parliament's draft legislative initiative report on "Civil Law Rules on Robotics" as a basis.

The JURI Committee of the European Parliament in association with the Policy Department held a Workshop on 'New rules for digital contracts' with EU national Parliaments. The Workshop brought together JURI MEPs and Members of the EU national Parliaments with academics and experts in three sessions.

The JURI Committee held the Workshop 'Cross-border activities in the EU - Making life easier for citizens' with EU national Parliaments. The Workshop brought together JURI MEPs and Members of the 28 national Parliaments, with around a dozen experts, practitioners and academics in three sessions.
