Presidency Parliament Support Programme

The parliamentary dimension of the EU Council Presidency is an important and challenging task for the national Parliament of the Presidency. It involves the organisation of a series of interparliamentary meetings and conferences that promote the dialogue and the exchange of opinions amongst national Parliaments and the European Parliament.

The Directorate for Relations with National Parliaments offers support to the "Presidency Parliament", during the preparatory phase, through the Presidency Parliament Support Programme. Initially the Programme was a tool to assist Parliaments from Member States holding the EU Council Presidency for the first time. Today any Presidency Parliament can profit from a tailor-made programme organised for its staff and adapted to its specific requests, needs and Presidency priorities. A toolbox will be discussed and planned, and may include a visit to the European Parliament, building networks with national interlocutors, sharing of information, best practices and expertise.
