The Sakharov Walk of Freedom celebrates the individuals, groups and organisations who have won the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought, and honours their outstanding contribution to human rights across the world.

The Walk takes you on a journey through the work of every Sakharov Prize laureate individually, from the very first Sakharov laureates Nelson Mandela and Anatoli Marchenko in 1988 right up to the present day.

The Walk is located on the Solidarność Esplanade and consists of ceramic-based tiles manufactured by Majolika Karlsruhe in Germany.

Make the Sakharov Walk of Freedom, accessible all day every day, part of your visit to the European Parliament in Brussels.

The area is currently under renovation and is planned to reopen in 2022.
