Parliamentary questions
5 March 2009
E-0120/2009
Answer given by Baroness Ashton on behalf of the Commission

Whilst the Commission actively monitors trade flows with China, it has not pursued any specific assessment on the impact of imports of sofas and seats from China on the European furniture-making industry.

At this stage, the Commission does not specifically envisage any anti-dumping measures on sofas and seats imported from China. Anti-dumping investigations are complaint driven. The Commission can only consider an investigation upon receipt of a complaint containing sufficient evidence of dumping of imported goods, and injury to the EU.
