The Commission is following closely developments in the Member States as regards electronic nicotine delivery systems such as electronic cigarettes. Currently, there is a lack of data on the safety of such electronic cigarettes.

The Commission does not plan to encourage the promotion or dissemination of electronic cigarettes.
