The High Representative/Vice-President is aware of the verdict issued against Mr Haydara. The European External Action Service is closely monitoring his case and those of other convicted from the Baha’í community and is in contact with the Baha’í community to this effect. The Delegation of the EU to Yemen is actively pursuing outreach actions in relation to this specific case, notwithstanding the very difficult access conditions to Sana'a.

The EU is strongly committed to the respect of minorities' rights and to freedom of religion or belief and considers that these will be crucial elements for the success of any national reconciliation process in Yemen leading to a sustainable and lasting peace.
