Fishing opportunities and financial contribution provided for by the EU-Mauritius Fisheries Partnership Agreement (A7-0127/2013 - Antolín Sánchez Presedo)

Claude Moraes (S&D), in writing. − I voted for this report because it provides for extensive cooperation between the EU and Mauritius in order to promote responsible fishing, whereby the evolution of resources will be monitored. Efforts will be made to ensure that local fishers are not crowded out and that the fishing activites of EU ships are not opposed to those of the local fishing communities. Rather than leaving no regulation in place at all, this report ensures a properly managed agreement, with cooperation on sustainable and complimentary fishing.
