E-0587/05
WRITTEN QUESTION by Sophia in 't Veld (ALDE) , Michael Cashman (PSE) , Véronique De Keyser (PSE) , Karin Resetarits (NI) , Magda Kósáné Kovács (PSE) , Marco Pannella (ALDE) , Emma Bonino (ALDE) , Baroness Sarah Ludford (ALDE) and Claire Gibault (ALDE) to the Commission

 Subject:  Advisers to Mr Barroso
 Answer(s)

I refer to the Written Question tabled by Mrs De Keyser, (MEP) tabled on 2 December 2004 (P-3318/04) concerning the Commission President's Group of Political Advisors (GOPA).

1. Will the Commission President Mr Barroso, like his predecessor, be consulting external advisers?

2. If this is, indeed, the case, can the Commission ensure that, in keeping with the spirit of Article 52 of the future Constitutional Treaty, the Commission President will consult representatives of all types of organisations, including secular, humanist and non-confessional organisations?

3. Furthermore, can the Commission ensure that the names and remuneration of the members of such a group of political advisers will be made public and that the group will conduct its work in a completely transparent manner?
