How to shape outer space economic development to save the planet? How to make Europe able to establish, manage and protect its infrastructures in space, in order to ensure the right for all humanity to benefit from activities in outer space? How to keep an edge for Europe on clean space policy and technology? The conference will reflect on the importance of making the right technology choices, since rocket launches and re-entries, may have a significant impact on the upper atmosphere, thus on the global warming and ozone layer depletion. Space debris could hinder the future exploration and exploitation of terrestrial orbits. And in the near future, the very observation of the universe from earth could become impossible. Experts from different disciplines together with policy makers will discuss how to involve civil society on addressing space challenges to get people's understanding and support to an ambitious European space strategy.
