Terminology Without Borders
Terminology without Borders
Terminology without Borders (TWB) is an initiative of the Directorate-General for Translation (DG TRAD) of the European Parliament that connects universities with EU terminology work.
The aim of this academic cooperation is twofold. On the one hand, it allows the European Parliament to disseminate its mission and vision on multilingualism, focusing on translation and consistent use of EU terminology. On the other hand, universities can gain an insight into the meticulous terminology work in the European institutions and contribute to the EU's terminology management system, IATE.
Terminology without Borders' partners work on terminology projects, involving terms in IATE owned by the European Parliament.
The projects' domains and subdomains follow the EuroVoc classification (21 domains and 127 sub-domains). These domains describe the content of documents in the online gateway to EU Law, EUR-Lex, and IATE is based on this classification.
