Im Juni 2021 legte die Kommission ihre Vision für die Förderung der Entwicklung der ländlichen Gebiete in der EU bis 2040 vor. Das Europäische Parlament beschloss, einen Initiativbericht zu diesem Thema auszuarbeiten. Über den Bericht des Ausschusses für Landwirtschaft und ländliche Entwicklung (AGRI) des Europäischen Parlaments soll im Dezember im Plenum abgestimmt werden.
