EU Air Quality Policy and WHO Guideline Values for Health

The policy package “A Clean Air Programme for Europe” includes a proposal for a revision of the Directive on National Emission Ceilings. The objective of the proposal is to further reduce the impact of air pollution on human health, taking into account the latest advice issued by the World Health Organisation. The acompanying impact assessement examined various emission reduction scenarios regarding their impacts and cost effectiveness. These underlying building blocks are qualitatively analysed in this study. This study was provided by Policy Department A for the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI).
