On 16 July 2025 the European Commission presented its proposals for the 2028–2034 multiannual financial framework (MFF), outlining a €1.8 trillion budget to guide EU spending over seven years. Within this framework, the single market and customs programme (SMCP) aims to strengthen the single market, the customs union, tax cooperation and the fight against fraud.
