The Just Transition Fund (JTF) is a new financial instrument within the Cohesion Policy, which aims to provide support to territories facing serious socio-economic challenges arising from the transition towards climate neutrality. The JTF will facilitate the implementation of the European Green Deal, which aims to make the EU climate-neutral by 2050.

The commissioner-designate, Elisa Ferreira, appeared before the European Parliament on 02 October 2019 to answer questions put by MEPs from the Committee on Regional Development. During the hearing, she made a number of commitments which are highlighted in this document. These commitments refer to her portfolio, as described in the mission letter sent to her by Ursula von der Leyen, President-elect of the European Commission, including: - Cohesion, reforms and a just transition.
