On 12 June, the LIBE Committee hosted a Public Hearing on media freedom and the protection of journalists, focusing on the evolving challenges within the EU’s media legal framework. The discussion addressed critical threats to democracy in Europe, such as disinformation, manipulation, spyware, and the unlawful surveillance of journalists. The debate also explored potential legislative and policy improvements aimed at reinforcing the EU’s commitment to media freedom.

DEVE's First Vice Chair Isabella Lövin joined a group of Members of the Environment and Fisheries committees to attend the 3rd UN Ocean Conference and met with a wide range of stakeholders. The summit brought together policy makers and experts from around the world to advance global action on ocean governance and protection of marine ecosystems. The European Commission and European Council Presidents presented the European Ocean Pact and 57 voluntary commitments of the EU.
On Thursday 5 June 2025, EMPL will hold a public hearing on the "Artificial Intelligence at the workplace". The objective of this hearing is to focus on harnessing the potential and advantages of digital transformation, including algorithmic management and AI in the workplace while at the same addressing the corresponding risks and challenges.

The Committee on Legal Affairs, with the support of the Policy Department for Justice, Civil Liberties and Institutional Affairs in cooperation, organized a Workshop, entitled: The 28th Regime: a new legal framework for innovative companies. The event took place on 5 June 2025, from 9:00 to 10:30.

On 4 June, the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) hosted a Public Hearing on “Organised Crime and its impact on Internal Security”. The hearing aimed to discuss the escalating complexity and transnational nature of criminal activities which are undermining the European Union's security and the fundamental rights of its citizens.

The Committee on Legal Affairs, with the support of the Directorate for Relations with National Parliaments (DG PART), organised an Interparliamentary Committee Meeting (ICM) on 'Implementation of the Directive on the Protection of the Environment through Criminal Law'. The event took place on 4 June 2025, from 14:30 to 16:30.

On 4 June 2025, the LIBE Committee hosted a public hearing on Radicalisation online, with a focus on the recruitment of children for organised crime and terrorism. The hearing looked at online radicalisation, including the role of social media and messaging services.
