Revision of the trans-European transport network guidelines
To support its economy, provide mobility for people and goods and ensure the connectivity of all regions, while also limiting negative impacts on climate and environment, the EU has been building a multimodal transport network across its territory: the trans-European transport network (TEN T). TEN-T construction is supported by EU funding, an example of which is the dedicated Connecting Europe Facility programme. In December 2021, after evaluating progress in TEN-T implementation, the European Commission ...
Intelligent road transport systems
The European Commission proposed changes to the existing EU rules on the deployment of intelligent transport systems (ITS) in road transport. The objective of the proposal was to expand the scope of the existing EU rules to cover new and emerging challenges and to make essential ITS services mandatory across the EU. Women working in transport
International Women's Day on 8 March 2022 marks an occasion to reflect on the position of women as workers in the EU transport sector. Women only represent on average around 16 % (2020) of total employees in the different transport sectors and modes (land, water and air). In view of growing labour shortages in this important economic sector, worsened by the coronavirus pandemic, this share needs to increase, according to experts.
