EU-Switzerland PNR Agreement
The EU and Switzerland have negotiated an agreement enabling the transfer of passenger name record (PNR) data from the EU to Switzerland for the purposes of preventing, detecting, investigating and prosecuting terrorist offences and serious crime. The European Parliament is asked to grant its consent to the conclusion of this agreement. The vote is due to take place during the September 2026 plenary session.

Draft amending budget No 2/2026: Update on revenue and adjustments to expenditure
The European Commission's proposed draft amending budget No 2/2026 (DAB 2/2026) to the EU's 2026 general budget seeks to update both the revenue and the expenditure side in the 2026 budget. The Commission aims to increase the level of commitments by €444 million and of payments by €8 billion. The European Parliament is due to vote on the Council's position on DAB 2/2026 during its September plenary session.

EU lawmakers will hold a joint public hearing on how organised crime exploits weaknesses in the EU’s Single Market to commit VAT and customs fraud. The hearing brings together the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control, Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection, and Subcommittee on Tax Matters. Experts and public authorities will discuss how well current EU rules work, where enforcement falls short, and possible improvements.
On Monday 7 September 2026, the FISC Subcommittee will host a public hearing on “Taxation trends in EU Member States: how tax policy or tax compliance can be improved?”
On Thursday 10 September 2026, the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) will hold a public hearing on "Western Balkans' frontrunners: Lessons learnt from Albania and Montenegro and sustaining the enlargement process" from 09:30 – 11:00 in Brussels (SPAAK 3C50).
