Nel giugno 2018 la Commissione europea ha proposto un pacchetto di riforme comprendente norme sugli aspetti finanziari della politica agricola dell'Unione europea (UE). Dopo lunghi colloqui sulla riforma, il testo convenuto in ultima analisi dai negoziatori del Parlamento europeo e del Consiglio nel giugno 2021 dovrebbe essere posto in votazione durante la tornata di novembre II.

Il 1° giugno 2018 la Commissione europea ha presentato le proposte legislative inerenti alla politica agricola comune (PAC) dell'UE, tra le quali figura una proposta sui piani strategici della PAC con cui ciascuno Stato membro definirà le misure della PAC per conseguire gli obiettivi prefissati. A seguito di lunghi negoziati, il testo definitivo approvato infine dai negoziatori del Parlamento europeo e del Consiglio nel giugno 2021 sarà votato in Aula durante la tornata di novembre II.

Il 20 maggio 2020, la Commissione europea ha adottato una comunicazione dal titolo "Una strategia "Dal produttore al consumatore" per un sistema alimentare equo, sano e rispettoso dell'ambiente".
