This note take into account the recent experience following the adoption of the Data Collection Regulation needed to conduct the common fishery policy (Reg. EC 1543/2000), the improvements over time and the opportunities offered by the recent Reg.(EC) 199/2008. This note take into account the recent experience following the adoption of the Data Collection Regulation needed to conduct the common fishery policy (Reg. EC 1543/2000), the improvements over time and the opportunities offered by the recent Reg.(EC) 199/2008. The general framework is now more adapted to the complex reality of the EU fishing fleets, following also a regional approach and setting more adequate provision for the management of data and the international approach to the management of marine resources. Biology and economy now can play together.
