The commissioner-designate, Valdis Dombrovskis, appeared before the European Parliament on 08 October 2019 to answer questions from MEPs in the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs. During the hearing, he made a number of commitments which are highlighted in this document.

Sociālais dialogs ir viens no Eiropas sociālā modeļa pamatelementiem. Tas ļauj sociālajiem partneriem (darba devēju un darba ņēmēju pārstāvjiem) aktīvi līdzdarboties, tostarp ar līgumu palīdzību, Eiropas sociālās un nodarbinātības politikas veidošanā.

Eiropas Savienība papildina dalībvalstu pasākumus saistībā ar darba ņēmēju tiesībām uz informēšanu un uzklausīšanu, pieņemot direktīvas, kurās noteiktas minimālās prasības, vai īstenojot pasākumus, kuru mērķis ir veicināt sadarbību starp dalībvalstīm.
