The contribution of producer organisations (POs) in the fruit and vegetable sector (F&V) is highlighted in various pieces of EU legislation. The 2007 reform of the common agricultural policy (CAP) brought a new range of tools aimed at strengthening their role in the F&V sector. This study analyses the situation of the fruit and vegetables sector in the EU Northern Member States. It also suggests possible improvements of EU rules. The study was presented to the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development on 22 January 2015.

Fish do not recognise frontiers, so sustainable exploitation of the resources of the sea requires joint management. The EU is also a major market for fisheries and aquaculture products. A set of proposals to reform the essentials of the EU Common Fisheries Policy are now being negotiated by the EU institutions.

This study describes the intervention mechanisms of the COM in fisheries products and their use in the different Member States. It also describes the development and characteristics of each Member State’s producers’ organisations.

This study is a contribution to the parliamentary debate in response to the proposal for reform of the common organisation of the market in wine initiated by the Commission. It provides a brief summary of the situation in the wine market in recent years in the 25 Member States of the European Union, assesses the shortcomings of the current CMO mechanisms, analyses the Commission's proposals and puts forward specific proposals for reform of the CMO.
