The Comparative Study of the Cultural Products and Services Industry EU-USA
The focus of the study is the cultural products and services industries in the EU, and similar sectors in the US. There have been a number of definitions of the cultural industries sector proposed by various governments and other agencies, and this study will focus on the following sectors as they are generally acknowledged as the main areas of potential economic impact: • Audiovisual: including cinema, video and DVD • Broadcasting: including television and radio • The music recording industry • Publishing The main purpose of this study is to identify a range of options that the European Parliament could consider, and perhaps adopt as European Community strategy.
