The European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS) is hosting an event entitled 'Strengthening Europe's open strategic autonomy: The need for a 'bold Europe'. The event will challenge the premise that European prosperity has for too long been based on Russian energy, trade with China and US security/defence guarantees -dependencies that are hampering strategic autonomy. The distinguished speakers from the European Parliament and the European Forum Alpach will explore how the EU can reduce these critical dependencies and strengthen its strategic autonomy while remaining open to the world, accelerating the green and digital transition, and regaining competitiveness, economic opportunity, and internal resilience. They will also examine how Europe can strengthen its security and defence while promoting democracy within and outside the EU.
