EPRS event on 7 December
Policy Roundtables and Book Talks EPRS

Lord Plumb died back in April 2022. This roundtable, first of a new EPRS series, will devote to him as a British Conservative MEP and President of the European Parliament from 1987 to 1989, bringing together an eminent historian, a former MEP and a former Secretary-General of the European Parliament who will recollect their working experiences with former President Plumb. The event will be open by a video-message from current EP President, Roberta Metsola.

Policy Roundtables and Book Talks EPRS

The roundtable will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on science advice in policy-making and discuss lessons learnt from COVID-19 for science advice in policy-making under stress. In this dimension, speakers will focus on essential questions of the use of science advice for complex political decision preparation and decision-making under the conditions of uncertainty.

Przesłuchania IMCO

On 8 December, IMCO will hold a public hearing to follow up on Parliament’s motion for a resolution on the right to repair, adopted in April 2022. The aim of the hearing is to feed into the discussion related to the upcoming Commission proposal on the right to repair and more specifically, to look at how consumer rights and guarantees can be strengthened.

This roundtable is the EPRS annual flagship on key takeaways from 2022. Distinguished Think Tankers will discuss issues such as Russia's war on Ukraine, geopolitical shifts, energy crisis, macroeconomic situation, climate and other topics that made 2022 'the year that shook the world'.

On 09 January 2023, from 17:00 to 18:30, the FISC Subcommittee will host a public hearing on "Potential Distortions of the Single Market due to Personal Income Tax: challenges for SMEs and risks of harmful tax competition". The transformation of the way how we work through digitalization and globalization has been accelerated during the COVID19 pandemic and has led to a significant increase of remote working. These developments have also created new challenges in the area taxation.

Zgodnie z art. 193 Regulaminu komisja może zorganizować przesłuchanie z udziałem biegłych, jeśli uzna to za niezbędne w pracach dotyczących określonej tematyki. Przesłuchania mogą również wspólnie zorganizować dwie komisje lub więcej. Większość komisji organizuje okresowe przesłuchania, gdyż umożliwiają one wysłuchanie biegłych oraz omówienie kwestii o podstawowym znaczeniu. Na tej stronie zamieszczono wszelkie dostępne informacje dotyczące przesłuchań komisji, w tym programy, plakaty i wypowiedzi poszczególnych osób.

Departamenty tematyczne i Dział Prognoz Naukowych (STOA) organizują warsztaty zgodnie z rozporządzeniem finansowym. Nie zawsze odbywają się one jawnie, ale mogą mieć miejsce podczas posiedzenia komisji parlamentarnej.
