The European Parliament's Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) and the Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI) will jointly organise a hybrid interparliamentary committee meeting (ICM) with National Parliaments on 28 November 2022 on “Universal Jurisdiction - improving accountability for serious international crimes”.

The aim of the meeting is to discuss how universal jurisdiction can play a role as part of a wider accountability strategy, complementary to international courts and prosecutions on other jurisdictional bases.
Members of the European Parliament and of National Parliaments seek to discuss, in presence of experts, the best practices of achieving justice for victims, as well as what the EU can do to overcome impunity gaps and to promote the principle of universal jurisdiction worldwide.
