On February 17, from 15h15 to 17h15, IMCO will host a public hearing, in room SPINELLI 3G3, on the safety of products in the single market, focusing on e-commerce and imports from non-EU countries. The goal of this hearing is to gather input from the Commission, businesses, consumer groups, and national authorities.

SEDE organises a public hearing on 'Hybrid War: protection of undersea cables in the Baltic Sea' on Tuesday, 18 February 2025 from 11.30 to 13.00hrs in Brussels (room SPINELLI 3G2). Subsea infrastructure, such as communication cables and energy pipelines, serves as the global nervous system, simultaneously transporting critical energy resources across continents and enabling communication across the world.

On 18 February, from 14:30 to 16:30, the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) will host a public hearing about housing rentals in the internal market and consumer protection, in Brussels (room SPAAK 1A2). This event aims to bring together different perspectives and gather feedback on housing rental challenges, with a particular emphasis on consumer protection.

On 19 February, Committee on Foreign Affairs will host its first Interparliamentary Committee Meeting of the new legislative term. Over 40 members of national parliaments will be present to exchange views with AFET members. There will be two sessions, focusing on transatlantic relations in challenging times and the role of the European Union in an increasingly multipolar world. Rosa Balfour (Carnegie Europe) and Jim Cloos (TEPSA) will be the keynote speakers in the respective sessions.

The Joint LIBE-PETI public hearing ‘Border checks and the future of the Schengen area’, based on Petitions 0585/2023 and 0509/2024, focuses on the evolution of the Schengen Area, recent amendments to the Schengen Borders Code and the impact of the reintroduction of internal border controls.

Between 24 and 28 February 2025, IMCO Members are going to visit Washington DC. The main aim of this visit is to strengthen the transatlantic cooperation on key policy IMCO areas while obtaining feedback from U.S. stakeholders on the implementation and impact of major EU legislation, including the Digital Services Act (DSA), Digital Markets Act (DMA), EU AI Act, Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), Data Act, and Political Advertising Regulation.

Members of the FISC Subcommittee will travel to Helsinki (Finland) and Tallinn (Estonia) from 25 to 27 February 2025. The delegation, led by second Vice-Chair Ms. Regina Doherty, will meet with representatives of key institutions, such as the Ministries of Finances and national parliaments, and stakeholders from the private sector, trade unions, and civil society.
