Young carers (YCs) are children under the age of 18 providing informal, unpaid and often unrecognised care to members of the household suffering from disabilities or otherwise requiring regular care. This in-depth analysis reviews a range of literature on legal recognition, stakeholder awareness and policies adopted at different levels in the EU regarding YCs. The aim is to provide readers with an appropriate evidence base and inform policy action in this area.

However, the annual Eurostat statistics on income and living conditions ...

To increase ESSPASS’ effectiveness, this report recommends expanding the current scope to include documents pertaining not only social security and health care but also to labour law, notably the national ...

The study submits that ‘One in, one out’ is a tool for less, not better, regulation and legislation, and, as such, it is not a suitable instrument for better law-making. To achieve effectiveness of legislation, the EU must reform its law-making policy holistically by placing the citizen at the core of its legislative communication. The EP must lead on and defend the citizens’ right to better legislation. To put this reform to effect, the JURI Committee must place itself at the centre of deliberations ...

Under EU rules, EU citizens are free to reside and work in any Member State, and can be posted to any other EU country to provide a service job. By contrast, labour migration by third-country nationals (TCNs) is controlled by a different regulatory framework. However, Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) case law provides that TCNs with work and residence permits in one Member State may be posted across the EU to perform temporary work. The posting of TCN workers is increasingly being used ...
