In November 2022, the Commission presented a proposal for a revision of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (PPWD – Directive 94/62/EC). During its November II 2023 plenary session, the Parliament is due to vote on the report adopted on 24 October by its Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI). The report as voted would then form Parliament's position for negotiations with the Council, which has yet to adopt its position.
