Find out more about the projects competing in the 2025 edition of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize

The European Charlemagne Youth Prize aims to award projects run by young people that foster democracy, promote active citizenship and bring communities together.

A European prize for young people

The Charlemagne Youth Prize is aimed at recognising the efforts of EU residents aged 16–30 whose projects are making a difference in their community or beyond. The application deadline was 30 January.

The national winners

All submitted projects were evaluated by national juries, which selected a single nomination for each country.

Next steps: the awards ceremony

Representatives of all national winners will be invited to the awards ceremony in Aachen, Germany, on 27 May, where the best three projects at the EU level will be announced.

The projects winning first, second and third prize will be selected among the 27 national winners. The jury is chaired by Parliament President Roberta Metsola, and includes Parliament vice-presidents Sabine Verheyen and Pina Picierno, as well as three members of the board of the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen, a representative of the European Youth Forum and of last year's first prize winner.

The three laureates will get the chance to visit the European Parliament in Brussels or Strasbourg, and one representative from each European winning project will be offered a Schuman Traineeship.

The European Charlemagne Youth Prize: organisers and prizes
