Mark Europe Day 2025 with a visit to the European Parliament
Celebrate Europe Day with us by visiting the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Brussels or Luxembourg, or by participating in events in your country.
What is Europe Day about?
We celebrate Europe Day on 9 May, as a reminder of the Schuman Declaration, which was presented by French foreign minister Robert Schuman on 9 May 1950 in Paris. This led to the foundation of the European Union that we know today.
This year is exceptional, as it marks the 75th anniversary of that important event.
Parliament and other EU institutions are organising various exciting events and activities for visitors on their premises.
Visit us and explore how the European Parliament builds and upholds democracy every day! Find out more about Parliament’s responsibilities: how it adopts laws, how it shapes and oversees the EU budget and how it scrutinises the work of the other EU institutions. Meet political groups, talk to experts, see exhibitions and much more!
Open day in Strasbourg - Sunday 4 May
In Strasbourg, the European Parliament will be open to visitors on Sunday 4 May from 10:00 to 18:00 (last entrance is at 17:30).
You will have the opportunity to visit the plenary chamber, walk around the Parliament building to discover our information stands, take part in many activities, and see exhibitions.
Open day in Brussels and Luxembourg - Saturday 10 May
The open day in Brussels takes place on Saturday 10 May from 10:00 until 18:00 (last entrance is at 17:30). Just as in Strasbourg, you can see the plenary chamber, participate in talks about the work of the Parliament, check out information stands and take part in a variety of other activities.
The European Parliament is also marking Europe Day at its premises in Luxembourg. The celebrations on 10 May (12:00-18:00) include a rich cultural programme and information stands presenting EU institutions, EU projects in Luxembourg, and countries.
In Brussels and Luxembourg you will also have the opportunity to attend events organised by other EU institutions to mark Europe Day, including the European Commission and the Council.
Europe Day events in other locations
Strasbourg, Brussels and Luxembourg are not the only places where we celebrate Europe Day - events will be organised all over Europe!
