Calls for tenders
The European Parliament, in cooperation with other EU institutions and bodies, signs contracts for the provision of translation services following the publication of calls for tenders, in accordance with the rules on public procurement laid down in the Financial Regulation.
The European Parliament organises such calls for tenders periodically, according to need. The contracts last for one year at a time and are renewable annually up to a maximum of four or, in some cases, a maximum of five years.
Since January 2020, the European Parliament has been working with contractors who fulfilled the requirements of the four invitations to tender issued by Parliament in the 'S' series of the Official Journal and on its website in 2018 and 2019.
The contracts concluded cover translation services for documents relating to the interests and activities of the European Union to be translated from multiple source languages into the 24 official languages of the European Union.
The contracts are awarded once the tenders submitted have been evaluated. The evaluation procedure seeks to identify the tenders offering the best value for money, taking into account the quality of the tender relative to the highest quality tender evaluated, and the price per standard page relative to the lowest price of all the tenders evaluated.
The conditions for participation in the tender procedures are set out in the tender documents published alongside the draft contract and the tender specifications.
