European Parliament Vice President for Relations with North America, Mairead McGuinness joined the European Parliament Liaison Office during an online event with alumni and friends from the Center for European Studies of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts with a strong and timely transatlantic message.
Speaking from the European Parliament in Brussels to an audience all the way on the US Eastern and Pacific coasts Vice President McGuinness opened our webinar on the LUX Prize movie Cold Case Hammarskjold which participants were invited to watch during the previous two weeks as part of our LUX Film event.
Mrs McGuinness took this opportunity to underline that the European Parliament will always stand for truth, justice, human rights and democracy, both in Europe and around the world. "Just as like in the US we as lawmakers cannot do this on our own. Our strength comes from our citizens who guide us, energize us and raise our consciousness with their work, often coming at huge personal risks and sacrifice", she concluded.
