EU-Yemen Cooperation Agreement
The "Cooperation Agreement between the European Community and the Republic of Yemen" was signed in Brussels on 25 November 1997 and entered into force on 2 July 1998.
The Agreement is comprehensive, based on respect for human rights and democratic principles (Article 1) and contains a non-execution clause (Article 18). The future developments clause, allows the parties to extend the scope of the Agreement through other specific agreements.
The treaty strengthens and expands relations through:
"Both parties emphasise their desire to see regular contacts established between the European and the Yemeni Parliaments."
