Welcome from the Chair

The Delegation for relations with Palestine is concerned with developments in the Middle East Peace Process and the European Union's policy and actions concerning the establishment of the two state-solution. The European Parliament has repeatedly expressed its strong support for the two-state solution, with the State of Israel and an independent, sovereign, free, contiguous and viable Palestinian State with living side-by-side in peace.

Delegation Members assess the situation in Palestine regularly, meeting with Palestinian authorities, our Palestinian Legislative Council counterparts, and political and community leaders as well as NGOs. We scrutinise the use of EU funds for Palestine, including to the UNRWA, and monitor EU diplomatic policy and legal positions. Our aim is to ensure that the EU is fully and effectively consistent with its own laws, notably on the labelling products originating from Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territory.

The Delegation holds regular meetings in Brussels and Strasbourg to discuss the situation in Palestine. We are currently paying close attention to the situation in Gaza, to Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, to settlements in Palestinian territory - illegal under international law - and to the demolition of humanitarian aid, including aid funded by the EU. Our meetings are public and often web-streamed. I invite you to watch them live.

The Delegation frequently takes action, through public statements, demonstrations and exchanges with the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, in support of human rights and international and EU law. We call on the EU and the international community to exert pressure on Israel to end its settlement policy, lift the occupation, commit to a roadmap for peace, and recognise an independent, viable and sovereign Palestinian state.

I invite you to consult the information contained in these webpages for information on our activities and positions.
